If you travel by train from Istanbul to Podgorica, will you be allowed to transit through Sofia (Bulgaria) without a visa?

As I read their rules, transit visas are only issued for use within an airport for people with connectiong flights. Russian citizens require a visa, for this journey a type C short stay visa, which allows 2 days in the country.

But by train the journey is VERY difficult and you need to check very carefully whether it can be done when you need it. The train to Sofia doesn't start in Istanbul, you have to get to Halkali. Trains from Bulgaria into Serbia seem to be suspended and that will require a bus journey. Some routes within Serbia are suspended. There is one train (at night) from Beograd to Podgorica
